Which massage?

Initially two types of massage one for a relaxing massage which focuses on easing tension and promotes calm. The second is a structured remedial massage aiming to alleviate musculoskeletal factors and to aid repair.


Why massage?

Massage and bodywork can help release chronic muscular tension. As a result of either, physical, mental or emotional trauma adhesions form in the muscle tissue this hinders circulation, mobility and cause inflammation and pain. Massage releases tension alleviating pain and improving circulation. It increases joint flexibility, reduces mental and physical fatigue. Promotes faster healing of injured muscular tissue and improves posture also helping in reducing blood pressure. The benefits of massage and bodywork also include better sleep patterns, improvement in concentration it can reduce anxiety and create an overall sense of well-being and balance. 
Remedial massage works to heat muscles and tendons that are damaged. It is quite an intense form of massage. This is combined with stretches, joint rotations and manipulation to give an all-over treatment.

TYPES OF MASSAGE OFFERED

Deep tissue massage 

 Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It is designed to reach the deep sections of thick muscles. Deep tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues and metabolize stressed muscle cells. It assists the release of toxins and deeply held patterns of tension that affect both physical and mental function.


Myofascial Release

Direct myofascial release (deep tissue) is a therapy that refers to the soft tissue so this is a treatment to alleviate skeletal muscle immobility and pain. The soft tissue is loaded with constant force until manipulated release occurs. Therapists use thumbs, elbows, forearms, feet and knees to apply pressure onto the body. By slowly stretching the restricted fascia and applying directed force this allows the contracted muscles to relax and repair. Improving flexibility, mobility, blood and lymphatic circulation thus restoring balance.


Swedish Holistic Massage

Swedish massage is a treatment which represents the Western standard for other forms of massage. It is a calming, relaxing experience that can be used to help with specific ailments such as poor circulation, muscular pain and stress. Also being enjoyed as a preventative treatment it promotes general well being. The massage is applied directly to the skin usually with an oil lubricant. Applying essential oils can give additional benefit relieving muscle tension.


Thai Massage

Thai massage is a more physical manipulation of the body using passive stretching and gentle pressure with the hands and feet. Allied with yoga stretching movements, this massage will help to adjust the skeletal structure, increase flexibility, relieve muscular and joint tension, stimulate internal organs and balance the body’s energy system.
